Is Rogaine better than Finasteride? I was wondering if one is preferred over the other? Do they both have side effects?

they work synergistic when used  together but they have different mechanism of action .But we can say finasteride affects more on hair to stop genetic hair loss than minox it self.

Rogaine and Propecia (finasteride) are two different medications and depending on for whom they are to be used they differ in their potency and side effects.If you are a man with male patterned baldness, finasteride is the most effective medication. Is Rogaine better than Finasteride? For male balding, it's not even open to debate. Finasteride is superior. You are correct - there are side effects associated with use of each. Please be sure to have a thorough discussion with your physician about all side effects. There's lots to discuss and understand.

Finasteride typically has worse side effects than Minoxidil. Minoxidil is more challenging to remain compliant with due to frequency of use and constantly applying to the hair. They both work well and work better when used together.

These are two totally different drugs. Finasteride works by blocking DHT so it is mostly effective in young men losing hair. Rogaine (Minoxidil) is a high blood pressure medicine that has a side effect causing hair growth. It works very well in pill form and topically is works so so.

Neither is 'better' than the other, they each have their own particular cases where one is a better fit than the other. Finasteride is more suited for preventing hair loss, while Minoxidil/Rogaine is more suited for stimulating hair growth/thickness. Both have the possibility of side effects but many patients don't ever experience them.
