If I keep getting radiesse injections to augment my chin and jaw line, will enough collagen eventually develop and give me permanent increase in jaw width and chin projection? Also, if I already have a chin and jaw implant in place, would this cause any potential issues with the injections? Possibility of infection or anything like that ?

Yes, you can get radiesse injections after having an implant. Radiesse develops collagen and helps the skin improve volume and texture. Radiesse results last 12-15 months.  The "collagen" production is long term but this is more in the aspect of younger looking skin and not "growth" of the skin itself unless you do a significant amount of product. I often combine it with Sculptra to get even more collagen production long term.   Best, Dr. Emer

Radiesse does stimulate collagen production, but we have found that it bruises and swells more than some of the other fillers and the longevity is less. 
HA fillers like Juvederm Vollure or Restylane products may give a nicer, softer result with greater longevity. Another choice is Bellafill which contains PMMA microspheres which provide a scaffold that supports your own natural collagen production as it develops over time. 83% of patients were still satisfied with their results 5 years after improvement.  More than one treatment may be needed, but results are excellent and long lasting.

Radiesse, like other fillers, has the ability to stimulate collagen production - it creates a scaffold under the skin for new collagen fibers to form and hold to it. As you keep getting Radiesse on a regular basis you will notice you are going to be needing less and less treatments over time.
