At four days post-op it's much too early to evaluate the final outcome of the surgery. Recommend that you discuss your concerns with the PS who performed the breast reduction so that he/she can help you work through your regrets. Give yourself time to heal emotionally and physically from the procedure. If you still feel the same way after discussing your issues with your current PS, discuss your reasons for changing to another PS with your medical insurance provider if the procedure was covered; and also consult with another PS who would agree to take over the case since he/she did not perform the surgery.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SUrgeonLos Angeles, CA
It is normal to have some emotional ups and downs early after surgery so don't assume that what you are feeling right now will be permanent. Your surgical fees included post op care, and another surgeon will not be familiar with the details of your procedure. Best to stick with your plastic surgeon for now, and you can always get a second opinion later.
Hello,You are the master of your destiny. You can't undo surgery, but you can be seen by anyone you want to follow you and care for any issues you have. It may mean paying a fee for services though. Best of luck.
So sorry to hear you’re feeling a bit regretful of your breast reduction surgery. Please know that feeling a little down after any major procedure can be a very normal part of the healing process. At just 4 days post-op, you’re also not anywhere close to seeing your final results. If this is what’s bothering you, you might try to work with your original plastic surgeon through your recovery. However, if you truly feel that you would like to get a second opinion, you could try asking your current plastic surgeon for a referral, or seek another opinion on your own. Best of luck, and I hope you start feeling better about your decision!
It is certainly possible to get a second opinion on your surgery. Remember, though, that you are only 4 days out from the operation. There were no specifics in your question about why you are regretting the operation, but it is possible that your surgeon may be able to talk you through the process and figure out the best possible solution with you. I would advise contacting him/her first before getting another opinion.

Contact your PS as he/she may want to switch you to a non-narcotic pain reliever. Pain is typically minimal, and patients can go back to work in 3 or 4 days following breast reduction surgery. However, the time required for recovery following a BR varies a good deal among patients. The inflam...
