I started my treatments in April, and I would like to go on a vacation to the Beach in July for 2 days, I will be three treatments in by then. My 3rd treatment is set for 3 week before vacation, as long as I regularly apply sunscreen and stay in the shade for the most part, will I be okay to be out on the beach for a few hours?

Answer: Beach Concerns Thank you for your questions! You can still go to the beach after your treatment, however your laser technician may not perform a laser hair removal treatment when you come back from vacation. You may have to wait a minimum of 3-weeks to receive your next treatment. The skin cannot be tanned when performing laser hair removal treatments due to the laser contradictions that can burn the skin causing hyperpigment or hypopigment to the area.

Answer: LHR & Vacations Thanks for your question. Almost every office has an overreaction to sun exposure. It is impossible to avoid sun exposure for the 6 to 9 months it takes to complete a course of LHR treatments. You are not a candidate if you have had very recent exposure or come in with a dark tan or sun burn. You probably shouldn't go on an outdoor vacation for the next 5-10 days after an LHR procedure. The most IMPORTANT thing to do is be honest with the person doing LHR about your recent sun history. IPL treatments are inherently more dangerous than actual lasers, especially following sun exposure. The laser tech has to make the setting for your current melanin level, not what we have used in the past without a problem. Best of luck.
