I believe the only reasonable option you have to have a great looking smile with strait teeth is through orthodontics. Veneer or crowning of the displaced teeth will not give you the correct proportions and won't be able to compensate for the inset of the lateral incisor. I think you need to start with evaluation by an orthodontist and discuss your options from there i.e. braces or Invisalign.
Invisalign is your treatment of choice. a poor 2nd is veneers which would be bulky, difficult to match the colors of your adjacent teeth, and could fracture.

Everyones teeth move differently. We start off with our patients wearing trays 2 weeks each, but will change to every 10 days depending on your tooth movement. I would have trust in your orthodontist as every orthodontic case is a different.
