Had RF micro needling AND micro-needling. Both times it caused all of my filler to dissolve. What else for resurfacing? Thanks!

Question

Two different dermatologist. After the first time, the second said it would not happen. It did. I want to resurface my skin without losing the fillers and Botox UNDER skin. Need advice. Thanks!

Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

Thank you for sharing your question about resurfacing the skin without loss of fillers. The best option is erbium laser treatment. It will improve the quality of your skin and remove sun-damaged tissue without dissolving prior injected fillers. See an experienced oculofacial surgeon who regularly uses the erbium laser. It's a little unusual that regular microneedling caused your filler to dissolve (with RF it makes sense due to heat), as the microneedles should not be deep enough to reach where your filler was injected. Nevertheless, other options for resurfacing could be a chemical peel or laser treatments.
