Masturbation at day 4 post Rhinoplasty !!! What internal damage may I have caused ? Is it as serious ?

Hello and thank you for your question. It is very normal to be swollen at two weeks postoperative. The dorsal aspect of the bridge of the nose will usually decrease earlier than the nasal tip swelling. Nasal tip swelling can sometimes take 6-12 months to fully resolve. I advise patients that the final result of rhinoplasty takes 12 months. I recommend that you return to see your surgeon, as he/she will have a good idea of what to expect in regards to your specific progress, since they can evaluate you in relation to your preoperative appearance.Best wishes and good luckRichard G. The reason why we advise patients to avoid intercourse or masturbation in the first week or so following nasal surgery is that it increases your heart rate and blood pressure putting you at risk for a nose bleed NOT internal scarring. The other risk with intercourse is bumping the nose in the throws of passion, which could damage the work done on your nose -- unlikely, but I suppose still possible, with masturbation depending on the technique you employed. It sounds like you are experiencing normal sensations following rhinoplasty. I suggest following up with your surgeon and voicing your concerns. Enjoy your results!
