I had a partial rhinoplasty and septum repair about 5 weeks ago. I have been cleared for yoga, but I still feel slightly sore, numb and fairly swollen inside my nose. I am worried that all the inversions and constant bending with my head down will delay healing and keep me swollen. Am I overthinking this or being smart?
Answer: Rhinoplasty recovery Although this answer should come from your surgeon, I allow my patients to exercise with a few exceptions at 6 weeks post op. Transient swelling will come and go for up to a year, but should resolve overtime. Good luck!

CONTACT NOW Answer: Exercise after rhinoplasty Hi @erryhospel! I recommend that my patients resume exercise 3 weeks post op. My biggest advice is to listen to your body. If you notice increased swelling after yoga or any physical activity, I would avoid those exercises and ease your way into your routine. Best of luck!

Answer: Yoga practice after rhinoplasty It is very individual judgement. weeks is quite enough for using yoga postures that are not related to a long period of head/neck stands. You can still do preaty much everything else and gradually progress to you yoga routine. If sudden bleeding occurs due to increased blood pressure do not panick it will go away. Good luck.

Answer: Exercise after surgery I usually allow my patients to go back to exercise at 3 weeks, but with stipulations. After they recover for a full 3 weeks they are suppose to spend the next week exercising at only 25% of what they normally would do. Then the following week 50%. 75% the next week and therefore by week 7 they can go back to their normal exercise routine. We always warn our patients if they start to have swelling they need to back off and take it more gradually. Good luck with your healing and enjoy your yoga practice when you and your surgeon feel it is safe to return to it. Richard P. Clark M.D.
