How long the swelling after Radiesse filler last and how to reduce it? I dont like the result what to do?

Radiesse is an FDA-Approved filler that we use very frequently in our office to sculpt the contours of the face. Since we are a national center of excellence for filler reversal, we also encounter patients from other doctors' offices who wish to have Radiesse fillers removed for one reason or another. In our office, we employ a directed technique to visualize the filler material, if possible on ultrasound, and then use non-surgical methods to dissolve the filler or granuloma tissue using intralesional injections. There are many methods using a combination of enzymes, intralesional modulators of scar tissue, and Kenalog to help reduce volume and remaining filler. These techniques require meticulous attention to detail and can be performed at intervals of two to three weeks to achieve longterm effect.

Thank you for your question.  Depending on the patient, it can take 2-3 weeks for the swelling to go down.  If you are still experiencing swelling, I suggest scheduling an appointment with your doctor to discuss your concerns.  All the best!

In our practice, we often use soft fillers like Radiesse for Facial Sculpting, Cheek, Chin and Temple Augmentations, Jawline Definition, Hand Rejuvenation, and Brow Lifts. Swelling and some bruising can be expected (and can be asymmetrical), especially this soon after treatment.If more significant bruising is present, I recommend using a vascular laser or IPL treatment to help reduce the bruising more quickly. Arnica with bromelain pills ("arnika forte") can also be taken to help speed up the healing process.I suggest waiting 1 to 2 weeks to see if the swelling improves. At that point, if you're still unhappy with your results, I would follow up with your physician or get a formal evaluation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert. It is not unusual to develop swelling after injection of fillers, including Radiesse, into the face.  Swelling that occurs is frequently not the same on both sides, so it is not unusual that one side would appear different than the other.  It can take a week or so for the swelling to resolve.  You could try using cold packs on and off to help reduce the swelling, but it really is just a matter of time before it resolves.  

Swelling can last a few days, up to a week after Radiesse injections. It is too early to determine symmetries at this point. Please wait a couple weeks to get a better idea of the results. Keep in mind that Radiesse is a mixture of Calcium Hydroxyapatite and Methyl cellulose. It takes about 6 weeks for the carrier to resorb and that's about the time that collagen starts to become visible. It takes about 3-4 months to appreciate the collagen response to the CaHa. Overtime, the CaHa is gradually degraded by the body and what's left is just the collagen created. Duration of correction is typically 12-18 months.
