Bruise like spots after chemical peel. What can I do? (Photo)

Question

I did a medium laser chemical peel yesterday with somekind of filling for acne scares. Now there are bruise like spots. The doctor said it may take upto a week. I have a brown complexion.

Thank you for your question. Peels do not cause bruising if that is what you are experiencing. Injections of filler however can. Consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for an evaluation and treatment plan.

Thank you for your question. Chemical peels do not cause bruising. If you had a dermal filler injected into acne scars this could cause temporary bruising. To minimize bruising in the future you can avoid any OTC medications such as Ibuprofen or Aspirin 1-2 weeks prior to the injections. The bruising you are experiencing is from the filler, not the chemical peel. We recommend stopping all blood thinners (Advil, Aspirin and Aleve) one week before and after any injection to help reduce bruising. Warm compress can also help reduce the appearance of the bruise. It should dissipate on its own, but call your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon if it becomes worse. Good luck!
