I have a bad fear of gagging when they make the mold. Is there another way to get a retainer for my teeth?

There are two options that I see for you.Option #1:  Go to an office that can do a 3D scan of your teeth and not require an impression mold.  These scans are great, but do expose you significantly higher levels of radiation.  The benefits still seem to out way the risks.Option #2:  Go to an experienced cosmetic dentist that is licensed in sedation dentistry.  You can take a small pill, 1 hour before your appointment and remove all of your anxiety and fear.  Anxiety is the single biggest reason that patients put off getting dental treatment.  My sedation license allows me to sedate my patients as much or as little as necessary to provide them with a comfortable appointment.Good luck with everything and I hope I helped.  Follow me on Real Self, if you have other questions.Sarah Thompson, DMD   O'Fallon, IL  and Saint Louis, MO
