I have a fat pad (hump) on the back of my neck that I am very self conscious about. It is actually is my whole neck, cannot see my collar bones and just makes my neck look short? It is my profile that i hate the most! Is smart lipo the best way to treat this area? How long is it until you see results? (I am getting married!) Also, in the future I am interested in BBL. Should this all be done at once to use the fat? ANY and ALL suggestions are appreciated!!!! Thank you!!
Answer: Treatment of buffalo hump Hi and welcome to our forum! A true "buffalo hump" is often seen in patients who suffer from Cushing's syndrome, a disorder of cortisol production. It may be caused by an adrenal tumor, lung tumor, or from chronic administration of steroid medications. Treatment of the underlying condition is required. A small "buffalo hump-like" fatty accumulation in the posterior neck may occur as the result of obesity. Weight loss may ameliorate the condition. If you are not obese, the fullness may represent a normal fat repository which would respond favorably to liposuction. The fat content of the neck mass is very small when compared to the amount transferred during BBL. The two procedures can be combined or performed separately. Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation, examination, and discussion. Best wishes...
