Just had post op w doc yesterday. He said I bruised more than typical patient but will all come down. Also he said my side effects of increased heart rate when standing/walking, nausea, headaches will also improve over time. Is this normal for some patients? My leakage did finally stop topsay(day 5). Front incisions were left open side/back were sutured shut w dissolvable stitches. Trying not to worry but didn't think I'd be in this bad of shape 5 days out. Thanks

Answer: Vaser recovery Looks like you had Hidef work done and have extensive bleeding which is why you've bruised. This is much more than I've ever seen and I've performed hundreds of Vaser hide procedures. The areas may become indurated long term. Recommend close follow up with your plastic surgeon.

Answer: Bruising after liposuction Bruising is the side effect scene when blood is left in tissues after surgery or injury. The hemoglobin in red blood cells slowly breakdown. As they do they become pigmented molecules that stained it tissues. This is a temporary process it can be disconcerting because of the way it looks.During liposuction tumescent solution is generally put through out the areas treated. This solution contains a numbing medicine called lidocaine as well as a medication called epinephrine. The epinephrine causes blood vessels to constrict's which basically shuts down the blood supply to the fat during the procedure.Think of it like turning off the water supply before you do plumbing. The effect of the epinephrine usually minimizes bleeding during liposuction. It's important to use to mess and solution methodically throughout all areas treated. This is generally done with great precision when liposuction is done on awake patients.when the procedure is done without General Anastasia every area is carefully treated with tumescent solution before any liposuction is begun. This generally gives sufficient amount of time to let the epinephrine take affect which makes liposuction an operation that has very little blood loss. This step in liposuction is very important to minimize bruising. If general anesthesia is used some surgeons do not place as much emphasis on the placement of tumescent solution.this can lead to increased bleeding during the procedure which will later show itself as increased bruising. The statements are not a reflection of how your procedure was performed in anyway. Some patients simply bleed more during the procedure than others. If patients take aspirin including baby aspirin or ibuprofen before the procedure then increased bleeding is also's often seen. Some patients simply bleed more during the procedure than I do.based on the amount of bruising in your pictures you probably lost some blood during the procedure. That would account for some of the symptoms you're having.Your body will make new Red blood cells rapidly. You should feel better within a few days though the bruising it will take several weeks to dissipate.drink lots of fluid and keep in close communication with your plastic surgeon.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
