Losing weight after breast reduction surgery?

I'm 17, turning 18 in February, and on the 27th of January I'm fiiiinally having a breast reduction. I'm a 16E and weigh 72 kilos and am 5'8. I used to do a lot of sports i.e. tennis, netball, swimming, softball - however my breasts were so heavy and large I felt insecure and pain when I tried to run, in particular. I'd like to lose 10 kilos or so. Will this be easier to achieve once I've had the surgery?

In my own practice the average weight loss after reduction is an additional 14 pounds.  removal of the excess weight on the chest allowed the patients to get more active.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.  The best results from surgery are achieved when patients are at their ideal weight (although this is not always achievable or realistic).  Certainly exercise after your surgery will be much easier.  Let your surgeon know about your plans and expectations and this can be taken into consideration when planning & performing your surgery. Hi there.  Good question.Surgery is best performed at the weight you would like to be.  Then the shape of the breasts can be fashioned knowing little will change. Losing weight after surgery will affect the size and shape of the breasts.It may be easier to lose weight after surgery if you are well motivated which it sounds like you are.  However weight changes are mainly diet related, with exercise having an important but smaller part.If you can lose at least some of the weight before surgery that would be ideal.All the best.

Large breasts can be a burden when trying to work out and lose weight. After breast reduction surgery, exercise does become easier and more enjoyable. Best of luck on your upcoming surgery.
