Hi, I have just had laser treatment on a huge dense tattoo which contains white ink and mostly black , after a week I felt itchiness from all over the body not even the treated sites like hell, I can't bare the itchiness so I just scratch all over the body for 24/7 can't even sleep for 3 days now Butt, arm, head, neck , feet , hands literally everywhere ... is this a serious allergic reaction to tattoo removal ? Should I stop laser treatment? But I can't I really have to remove this horrible.

Thank you for your question in regards to tattoo removal. An allergic reaction is possible when breaking down particles of ink during the laser tattoo removal process. It is suggested to contact your provider in regards to your reaction, and a dose pack is typically recommended. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Stop the laser treatments you ae describing an allergic reaction to the ink. The most common color for allergy is red but it has been described in all colors. There can be some itching at the tattoo under some circumstances but you are describing a systemic reaction. The release of a high ink load is the cause.Its possible at this point to decrease your itch with antihistamine meds or steroids for a short course.It is dangerous to continue with laser sessions because this could develop into a serious allergic crisis.

Thank you for your question.  I like to use the Picosure laser which can remove 95%+ of a tattoo. It works best to remove dark colors such as black, blue, purple and green. It can take up to 6-10 sessions to remove a tattoo and the average cost per session to remove a large tattoo is $500-$1000.
