Can dental bonding cause dry mouth and teeth?

Hello, Approximately 8 weeks ago I received dental bonding on my four front teeth as the enamel was wearing thin. The bonding was initially a little to bulky so I had them re shaped. I was happy with the result. I have since then been constantly running my tongue over them as they feel like they are dry all the time. I am curious as this is very annoying and I am unsure if it's the bonding veneers or a mental reaction. I also started medication which causes dry mouth shortly after. Thank you

Hi dblb,
Dental bonding is performed with a material called composite resin, which is generally rougher than natural enamel and may be partially responsible for the feeling on your tongue.
It is also quite likely that the new medication that you are taking is responsible for the dryness you're feeling, however this can sometimes be made worse by insufficient polishing of the composite bonding. A product that has helped some of my patients suffering with dry mouth is Biotene, a 'wetting' mouth rinse that may be used every 4 hours to relieve the symptoms of dry mouth. If there doesn't seem to be any improvement after this, I would recommend seeing your dentist again to see if the bonding can be polished further.
