I would definitely suggest that you find a practitioner who used the PicoSure device. It is currently the best laser on the market for tattoo removal - 3x faster than any other laser. You will probably blister for the first few sessions until the ink starts to dissipate. But assuming that you follow your surgeon's after care instructions, you shouldn't scar. My best,

I agree with the above statements.  In our practice we use the Picosure which is a picosecond laser and we've found it to be significantly faster and more effective than the older q-switched nanosecond lasers.  The ink in your tattoo is very dense and it is likely that the entire area may blister up depending on the aggressiveness of the laser and the settings used.  However, with the appropriate after-care and avoidance of infection, the blisters should heal with little to no scarring.  With the picosure, the skin will typically blister up the first few times until the ink is significantly lessened.   There's no guarantee how many treatments it will take as it varies per individual and type of ink.  There's also no guarantee that it will be 100% erased as even in the most successful cases, there is a slight "shadow" and the skin will always be a bit different compared to untreated skin.  The goal though is for the tattoo not to be grossly apparent.  Make sure whomever you choose has the appropriate experience and that all of these things are explained clearly to you.  Best of luck!

This is a difficult and heart breaking problem. I am sorry to hear of the distress it is causing you. Picosure Laser would be best option as it selectively heats and breaks the pigment down slowly over 6 to 12 treatments.
The Picosecond is a very fast burst of laser energy time that is employed in an attempt to avoid burns to the surrounding tissue (not always achieved).

Blistering is a possibility after the first session. As the ink diminishes there will be less of an reaction. As to choice of laser the q switched yag laser requires 10 or more sessions 8 weeks apart. The picosecond lasers can remove ink in as few as four sessions. The treatment sessions are more expensive but are cost effective because the tatto can be removed in as little as one third of the time.

Hello,  There is a lot to be considered when deciding whether to do laser tattoo removal. First off, the ink in your tattoo is very dense. It appears to be just 1 color, possibly black.  There is no way to guarantee that any laser device can completely remove all of the ink.  Since the body also plays a part in ridding itself of the ink, location of tattoo and your overall health can effect the outcome.  What the laser is actually doing is shattering the ink into tiny particles that your body then absorbs.  The latest technology in laser tattoo removal is the pico-second technology. The PicoWay Laser (Candela/Syneron) uses photoacoustic
impact/pressure waves rather than photothermal/heat.This process has less heat, therefore it is
more comfortable and the chances of hyperpigmentation are less.The Pico-second pulse shatters the ink into
even smaller particles, allowing the body to more easily absorb the ink. Depending on the device being used, that will determine how many treatments will be necessary. With the traditional Q-switch lasers you could estimate between 10-20+ treatments.  With the Pico-second technology, it is generally about half as many treatments. Following the laser treatment, it will be necessary for you to take care of the treated area in order to keep from scarring.  The laser tattoo removal process is very lengthy and can be uncomfortable.  Please take all of these things into consideration before you decide to start the process.Good Luck!
