Hello DRs-TIA! I had a BBL 7mo ago; expected scars to lighten & shrink, but still appear the same. Looked @100's of BBL's on realself & can barely see scars. Mine seem larger & more obvious & raised. Is that normal? The raised ones hurt with pressure at times . Why would that be? Any suggestions on how to lighten them? The pictures attached are of my stomach and flanks (8). So insecure as it makes the surgery obvious. Have on back and butt as well.

Answer: Scars after BBL Hello,Those look fairly hypertrophic. I recommend following up with your surgeon as he/she will be able to get a better look and make recommendations. In general, silicone strips can help with hypertrophic scars, so placing silicone strips over these incisions can help. All the best!Dr. BlaggAustin, TX

Answer: BBL Scars Hi, Mocchaccinaa. Looking at your pictures, and your narrative, it appear that you are developing hypertrophic scarring of your BBL incisions. Unfortunately, hypertrophic scarring occurs, and some skin types are more prone to this type of scarring. Careful incision placement and wound closure, diligent post–operative wound care, and various scar therapies started early do help to minimize the risk of poor scar formation. At 7 months, it is still possible to improve the appearance of these scars (although earlier treatment would have been more ideal) with aggressive scar therapy. Most likely you will require a combination of silicone sheeting, serial steroid injections, pressure and massage. As well as time and patience. I would encourage you to follow up with your surgeon. Best of luck!
