Is it possible I'll need to go back for another Botox touchup if the first doesn't work? Is this common for first timers?

Thank you for your question.  My advice is to wait a full week after your touch up procedure before evaluating your result.  It is common for a first-time Botox patient to need a touch up.  Sensitivity to Botox does vary from one patient to another and I respect that your physician is being conservative and making him or herself available to adjust your treatment.  Best of luck.

It takes 1-2 weeks for final results with Botox. Sometimes a touch-up is needed, but for deeper wrinkles a combination approach with fillers, lasers and microneedling/prp along with Botox will give the most improvement. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

It is common for one to need a touch up following Botox, even if its not your first time. Your doc will eventually develop what the right amount is for you. You really cannot evaluate the need for additional injections until you've waited the full 2 weeks. If you are given more before that time, you may regret it if both "touch-up" injections suddenly kick in.

I always recommend waiting 14 days for the full affect to take place before injecting any additional Botox. Your injector will hopefully get to know how your facial muscles react to the injection sites and amounts over time and will be able to get a reproducible pattern set for you. 

The full effects of Botox can take 7-14 days. I would not recommend adding additional Botox until after this time has passed from your last Botox injection. At that time a more complete evaluation of what your needs might be to achieve the look you are desiring would be more appropriate and safer.

It's too soon to see the full effect of the "touch up". It can take 7-14 days to see the results of Botox treatment. Give the Botox a little more time to work. 

Hello backspacer,For Botox it can take up to 14 days to see the full effect.  Getting a touch up before that may mean you are getting over treated.  Since there is a range of doses that can be used, it is not uncommon at your first treatment to require a touch up.  Once your dose is known, the next time you come in your doctor can go straight to your injection amount.  I hope this helps and good luck. 

3 days is not long enough to determine the full effect of Botox so wait at least another week and see your doctor to determine if more tweaking needs to be done. 

One of the reason I prefer Dysport to Botox is that Dysport works faster. Typicially, the maximum effect of Dysport is seen in 7 days and the maximum effect of Botox is seen in 14 days. You should wait at least 14 days before you have another touch up. You can have as many touch ups as needed as long as you wait long enough for maximum effect of Botox.
