How long after Accutane should I wait before I start AviClear? Would my previous use of Accutane affect my results?

When you start Aviclear you don’t need to stop your other acne treatment modalities. Aviclear is a long-term acne treatment plan without any major side effects and it works on the basic of acne which is oil glands. But you can keep your actual acne oral medication and creams. Accutane works on oil glands too so we recommend to stop using it 3 days before each Aviclear session until 3 days after and then you can keep taking it.

There are currently no contraindications to take Accutane while having AviClear treatments. There is usually a "purge" break out period after your first AviClear treatment, however, it is temporary and most clients do not find the need to go on Accutane after AviClear treatments. If you are already on the medications for acne, including antibiotics, there is no need to stop it, with that said, there is also no need to prescribe any medications after your AviClear treatments.

The current or past use of Accutane does not affect the treatment or outcome of AviClear. If you are currently on medications- hormones, spironolactone, Accutane, etc. you can continue on these during your treatment with AviClear and taper off or stop altogether. However, these are important decisions to discuss with your AviClear doctor during your monthly sessions depending on your results and your goals.

I recommend now AviClear to all my acne patients instead of Accutane. Last month one of my patients on Accutane was diagnosed with Lupus markers and possible now autoimmune activation. A side effect listed with Accutane. Other side effects related to using this medicine are grave for that reason the new FDA approved superficial AviClear laser, targets the hyperactive sebaceous gland, would be first choice for moderate to sever acne. On a personal note, as a mother I did take my son off Accutane and treated him successfully with AviClear.. a true believer.
