I had a port placed in my chest for chemo about a year ago. I formed a scar that a plastic surgeon said is borderline hypertrophic and keloid. It's super itchy and painful and ugly. It's an angry pink red in color. I have completed chemo and have been given the ok to get my port removed. My fear is that another incision is going to create more scarring. A plastic surgeon I saw said he could remove my port, excise the scar and inject cortisone to prevent it from coming back. Is this a good plan?
