I got a tummy tuck nine years ago with muscle repair. I've always felt like my upper abdomen has bulged, but it has gotten much much much worse over the years. Would liposuction help this or am I going to require another tummy tuck which I do not want.
Answer: Liposuction Thank you for submitting your question and including photos! You would be a great candidate for liposuction of the upper abdomen as that would decrease fullness. I recommend scheduling a consult with a board certified plastic surgeon like myself so we can create a surgical plan based on your goals.

Answer: Liposuction after TT Dear Herniamomma, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. In some cases liposuction after TT can help improve the results. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Tummy Tuck Hello, my name is Dr Burko, and I am a Plastic Surgeon at SY Aesthetics in NYC. It's possible that you have recurrent rectus diastasis after your previous surgery. This can be due to weight gain or pregnancy after your original tummy tuck. It's best to see a plastic surgeon for a consultation to determine your best treatment plan. If you have rectus diastasis, then liposuction alone will not flatten your abdomen.

Answer: Visceral fat?? Hi Herniamomma, Great question!! It may be hard to answer with the info you provided and without doing a physical exam. First, a couple of things I would need to know prior to being able to give you a good answer. What has your weight done since you had the TT? Do you work out regularly? Your name is Herniamomma...do you think you have a hernia or have you been diagnosed with a hernia? When you had your prior TT did they do a diastasis repair? So here goes.....if you have a lot of intra-abdominal/visceral fat then that won't be improved with liposuction alone. You would need to lose weight to see improvement. An easy way to see if you have visceral fat is to lay down flat on the floor and if your abdomen still bulges then you probably have visceral fat that you need to lose. If you don't have any bulging then you may have some abdominal wall laxity or diastasis that could be improved although this would require a revision of your TT. With regards to the lateral abdomen/hip bulging you marked on your pics that can be improved with liposuction. Just remember liposuction can remove unwanted fat but it cannot change your underlying musculoskeletal structure. I would have a consult and see what your options are. I hope this makes sense.

Answer: Upper abdomen Before determining the recommendation the cause of the bulging needs to be determined. If it is from visceral (internal) fat then liposuction nor a tummy tuck will address it, but losing weight will improve it. If it is subcutaneous fat then liposuction would give you nice improvement. If it is from a failed muscle repair or if muscle repair was never performed in this area then a revision to your tummy tuck would be the recommendation.
