Can I have dermal fillers if I have hypertrophic scars?

I am interested in getting hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and Dysport. Would this be an issue if I have a history of hypertrophic scars? I recently had a mole removed & ended up with a hypertrophic scar despite never having one before. Would getting filler put me at risk of scaring on the face?

Thank you for posting your question. Since administering dermal fillers and neuromodulators is done using a fine-tipped needle or a blunt-tipped microcannula, subsequent scarring should not be a concern.  
Administration with a blunt-tipped cannula provides a needless option for injecting filler into the face. With this technique, tissue is pushed to the sides to cause less trauma than a standard needle. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified injector who can assess your concerns and medical history to suggest the best option for you.

Hi and thanks for your question! Fillers are injected with a needle or cannula which are microscopic insertion points. The history of hypertrophic scars should not affect any future filler placement which should not leave any scars. Best of luck!
