I do not recommend massage for my patients after liposuction and BBL.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
Thank you for your question. I would discuss this with your plastic surgeon. I do not recommend it. Be sure to follow all of your PS post operative instructions to ensure a safe and easy recovery. Hello and Great Question. I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure. My name is Dr. Matthew J. Nykiel. I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon, and a Butt Augmentation Specialist. You are seeing conflicting info bc it depends on your surgeon and his/her protocol. In my practice, I start massage after 1 week. I also encourage utilizing a lymphatic massage therapist for at least once per week if you are doing full torso/body lipo.I hope that helps! It is always best to follow your surgeon's advice. Although opinions may vary on a variety of issues, your surgeon has developed a protocol with which he/she is comfortable. The debate regarding the importance of massage continues to rage. The goal of massage is to achieve a smooth contour post suction. While I am not aware of any ill effects (other than discomfort related to early massage), massage is seen as an adjunct to dedicated compression therapy which may impart some contour benefits post-op.I generally don't begin massage or endermologie until one month post operatively. However, opinions may vary. Compression is the standard in the immediate post operative period. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon
Some surgeon recommend massage and others do not. Best to review with your surgeon his preference....
I recommend my patients to start massaging the lipo areas two weeks after surgery. These areas are usually sore the first two weeks and patients cannot tolerate the proper massaging that needs to be done daily.
Far more important than the technique is the skill and experience of your plastic surgeon. Choose your surgeon rather than the technique and let them explain why one technique may be better than another. Please visit my page on finding the right doctor at drnichter.com on some suggestions on fi...
It is highly unlikely he we will be able to change the results of your Brazilian by exercising. In fact it's hard for someone to get any substantial change in the appearance of there but it's from exercise unless it's very intensive. It's not unusual for some people to have a flat spot on there...
Thank you for your question. It normally takes patients from 2 to 4 weeks to undergo the first stage of recovery after a BBL and pain should go down around this time. If you're still in pain after this time you should address this issue to your surgeon so that he or she can take a look. Good luck
