Yesterday was day 9 after blepharoplasty and my stitches were removed. Everything looked great. I was apparently not gentle enough in wearing makeup last night. I noticed after my shower that the incision on my left eye has opened some.
Answer: Blepharoplasty incision reopened I've seen this many times, and I typically just let this heal on it's own. Keep some antibiotic ointment on it (you only need a very small amount). Over the next two weeks it should be completely healed. Interestingly, the scar usually ends up looking great and no revision is required. Let your surgeon know what's going on and follow whatever recommendations they have.Andrew Campbell, M.D.Facial Rejuvenation Specialist

Answer: Reopened incision Hello rsinAtlanta,Thank you for sharing your photos and your concern. I am sorry you are having to deal with some postoperative healing issues, but they can occur.First, make your surgeon's office aware of the problem so they can guide you. Depending on the amount of separation they may recommend letting it just heal versus re-suturing. In the meantime, keep it clean and moist...I usually recommend antibiotic ointment. The good news is it will likely heal well despite the slight wound separation. I hope this helps. All my best!Dr. ElizabethAtlanta Face & Body

Answer: Incision opened up The first thing you need to do is make your surgeon aware of the situation. Based on your picture, it appears that The world will likely he wanted some with some wound care. Keep the area moist with Vaseline. It’s possible that the scar in that area will be widened after it heals. Scar revision is sometimes necessary. Best wishes to you.

Answer: Blepharoplasty incision issue First of all - let your surgeon know. Opening of blepharoplasty incisions, while not common or desirable, typically heal very well without any intervention. If the scar is not desirable after it heals, a small office revision can fix it.Keep the wound clean with soap and water, apply a small amount of antibiotic ointment on it, and avoid putting anything on it - makeup, sunscreen, etc - until it's healed. Let your surgeon know and get further recommendations from him/her.
