I am 5ft 11 in and weight 185 lbs. I am in the process of booking my surgery but I am worried that my results may not be what I picture in my mind. is my inspiration/goals picture unrealistic?
Answer: I want to get 360 Lipo and a BBL. Is my inspiration photo something attainable or is the size unrealistic? 5ft 11in and 185 lbs Hello, thank you for your question. Fat can be taken from many different areas of the body including abdomen, sides, back, bra rolls, thighs, arms, underarms, etc. You have to consider not only which areas will have perhaps the best fat, but also you have to consider which donor sites will have the fewest problems afterward with the liposuction. In general, the abdomen and thighs are preferred, but, if those sites are not available, other areas can be used.

Answer: BBL candidate Dear Rubieboi, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: I want to get 360 Lipo and a BBL. Is my inspiration photo something attainable or is the size unrealistic? 5ft 11in and 185 lbs Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. Based on your pictures, you are a great candidate for liposuction with BBL, and I think you'll get very good results. Liposuction allows your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. You can improve your abdomen, back and flanks, and of course your buttock, to give you a nice round shape. In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 33 or less. l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know. Good luck :)

Answer: Setting realistic expectations Your wish pictures are a little bit overly optimistic. There are multiple variables that have to we met correctly in order to get good results with fat transfer. There has to be sufficient fat available to harvest. Secondly there has to be sufficient host tissue to support high-volume volume fat transfer. Recommended modern techniques for gluteal fat transfer include grafting only in the fat layer between the skin and the gluteus muscle. On men this subcutaneous fat layer is typically rather thin. Without grafting fat into the gluteus muscle the amount of projection or increased in volume is going to be quite limited. for example if someone has 1/2 inch of subcutaneous fat that area could be doubled with fat transfer. Considering 50% of the fat grafted will survive the total increase and thickness will go from 1/2 inch to 3/4 of an inch. In the end that’s only a quarter inch projection from one round of fat transfer. If the gluteus muscle is also used as a post tissue that much more volume can be successfully grafted in a single session. If you measured the total amount of projection needed on your picture to get to where your wish picture is you need an inch and a half a projection. this simply isn’t possible while maintaining ideal safety measures which include not grafting in the gluteus muscle. Grafting in the gluteus muscle increases the risk for the single complication plastic surgeons and patients worry about with this procedure called fat embolism. Patients with thicker layers of subcutaneous fat carry more host tissue I can tolerate successfully higher volumes a fat transfer. Gluteal implants may be an option for you if you absolutely need that type of projection. The other option is to have multiple rounds of fat transfer as long as you have enough fat to be harvested for more than one round. If the strategy is to do this with multiple rounds of fat transfer that it is imperative that no fat be thrown away at the end of any single procedure. These are all things to be discussed during in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons before surgery. This conversation should be had with the surgeon you’re choosing to do the procedure and that should ideally be done in person. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
