I have a cross bite that has worn my gum line down. In addition to this I have cracks in the corner of my mouth CONSTANTLY and was told that once all this is fixed and new crowns placed & 6 veneers that it will fix the problem of the corners of my mouth always cracking. Also if the 6 lower teeth remain as is in this $35,000 treatment plan how will I get a white smile if they are grayish?Anyone know if this is true about the corners of my mouth?
Answer: Opening of the bite. This should only be done with a doctor who understands TMJ disorders. I would suggest starting with reversible treatment to experience the bite change before going into irreversible procedure. Full mouth reconstruction should only be done with great caution. A trial appliance lets you experience the change and correct problems before doing major work. A diagnostic wax-up is essential, you want to preview the work prior to lab finalization.Ira L Shapira DDS, D,ABDSM, D,AAPM, FICCMOChair, Alliance of TMD OrganizationsDiplomat, American Academy of Pain ManagementDiplomat, American Board of Dental Sleep MedicineRegent & Fellow, International College of CranioMandibular OrthopedicsBoard Eligible, American Academy of CranioFacial PainDental Section Editor, Sleep & Health JournalMember, American Equilibration SocietyMember, Academy of Applied Myofunctional Sciences

Answer: Partial reconstructions are not full reconstructions A fee like that is CLOSE to a fee for a full mouth rehabilitation, but not quite (or might be in some cities). It sounds as if you are "opening the bite" and making teeth taller (increasing the distance from the nose to chin). Doing this often helps the corners of the mouth, commonly seen when dentures are correctly fabricated. A full mouth rehabilitation is complicated and not easy. The bare minimum is what you describe, but I am sure if you pay a small percentage more, you could include the lower 6. Most people do not display lower teeth when smiling, so those 6 may not be important. If it were me, I would pay a bit more and get them all done.

Answer: Hard to tell based on your description but if you are "over-closed" it could be the case Would love to see pictures on this case. You indicated that your treatment plan included new crowns on the upper? Is it ALL the upper. This is the only way you could effectively change the vertical dimension. Quite honestly there are limitations with ONLY addressing a single arch to raise VDO (vertical dimension of occlusion). We are located in Atlanta, GA as well and our team would be more than happy to give you a consultation.

Answer: Commitment to your dental care You have raised a few issues which require much further and detail examinations which are beyond the scope of this site. However given your overall concerns, I would look in detail on exactly what you will be undergoing and if specifically your needs are going to be addressed. Its important to realize that any comprehensive dentistry should have a detailed models of before and after, that way you can be clear on how your new teeth will look and function. If occlusion, bite changes will be in the treatment it would be advisable to seek a provider who has immense knowledge in performing these treatments and that he has documented cases to show you. All the best,
