Double chin and chin/neck wrinkles: I recently lost weight and developed this loose skin. (Photos)

Question

It's on my chin/neck and now have these wrinkles. I do want kybella for my double chin and my current medspa nurse thinks the Kybella will help that existing lose skin tighten up. Is this true? Any other suggestions to get rid of this?

Based on your photos I do not feel Kybella would help you. You would best be served by a skin tightening procedure, either non-surgical (ThermiTight) or surgical (neck lift). Hope this helps.

I find that VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF are best for contouring the chin in those who are candidates and can be performed at the same time as a neck lift, if you're a candidate. Kybella can be used as an alternative and needs to be combined with thermage/ultherapy/exilis or coolsculpting for good results. A chin implant would give more definition. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Both Kybella or neck liposuction are good options and will improve the double chin.  Chin filler or implants can improve projection. It depends on your lifestyle and personality which would be better for you. 
Kybella is best for patients that:
1)  Do not want surgery 
2)  Are not surgical candidates 
3)  Not willing to wear a compression dressing around the face for 1 week 
4)  Patient-  The results of Kybella will take months
Kybella take 1-3 treatments every 6 weeks.  Patient will develop swelling and possible bruising after each injection that may last a few days.  The benefit of Kybella is each treatment is quick and completed in the office.
Neck Liposuction is best for patients that:
1)  Want a single treatment 
2)  One recovery time-  Downtime for neck liposuction require wearing a wrap around face for 1 week. 3)  Less painful 
4)  Quicker results 
5)  Cost is a concern
Neck liposuction is a quick surgical procedure that can be complete while the patient is awake.  It cost around the same price a Kybella and can be less in patients with heavier necks.  The single recovery of neck liposuction may be a better option for some patients.

Hello,We offer both method (liposuction and Kybella) in our clinic. I would favor the liposuction instead of Kybella. results are immediate and ability to do neck and jaw line as well. When you have chin treated then jaw line becomes more bothersome. Kybella will definitely help you reduce the fat under your chin however it will not help you with the sagging skin that can be accentuated after Kybella treatment . You can add J /plasma or radiofrequency treatment after Kybella to tighten the skin.

Kybella (melts) fat it does NOT tighten skin. It appears from your pictures (you would need a physical exam to confirm this) that you may develop more wrinkles in your neck after Kybella treatment. It appears from your pictures, that you would be a good candidate for a minimally invasive facelift (which I invented). This removes the fat under your chin, gives you a nicer jaw and neck line, bruising and recovery are less when compared to traditional techniques. Velashape is a good non surgical high tech device that helps to tighten skin without surgery. Please note that the results are not as good or last as long as a facelift. Thank you for your question and posting your photos. Kybella is FDA cleared for the destruction of submental fat (double chin). It probably is not going to do much for the skin laxity that you have. It would probably be best to do micro-liposuction on this area combined with an energy based device such as J-Plasma, FaceTite or ThermiTight to tighten up the skin.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

Thanks for your great question. Although, Kybella is not on label as being able to address skin laxity I have had many patients who got great skin tightening effects after Kybella treatments. No one can make any promises on skin tightening but I would say it's definitely worth trying Kybella.

Kybella is not a treatment for skin laxity. It is a treatment for reducing submental fullness due to fat. In your case, the Kybella may make things worse. You need a skin tightening procedure. Nonsurgical options include the new Thermage FLX.

Kybella is a chemical that kills fat cells.  The subsequent inflammatory response will help the skin to tighten down, but if a patient has very lax skin to begin with, Kybella may not be the best solution or it may need to be combined with treatments such as Ulthera or J Plasma.  Ulthera is a non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound energy to tighten muscle and skin.  In general, it is a one time treatment with no downtime.  J Plasma is a minimally invasive procedure that more significantly tightens skin, but does have some bruising and swelling.  Both can nicely be combined with Kybella treatments.I recommend that you have a consultation with a physician who specializes in aesthetic medicine.
