How do I know if the smart lipo procedure worked?

I had liposuction six months ago. It was the smart lipo and I was awake. the doctor showed me what was taken out and it look like a lot of fluid with blood more then fat, at first my stomach was hard and with massages it softened up, but I never really saw any difference, I still have as big of a stomach as before. The doctor is telling me I will see results. But, I have not. I am not sure the procedure worked.

Thanks for the question. The fat in our bodies is organized in two main areas, one under the skin and one under the muscles. If your fat is inside (under the muscles around the organs like kidneys/liver etc) liposuction would have had minimal change,as well- if your muscles were lax from preganncy your core would bulge out again not allowing much of a change from lipo. If thats the case diet/weight loss and a tummy tuck would be ideal

hello lisanka Liposuction patients can see results of their procedures as early as 10-14days after the procedure, but improvements continue 4-6 months afterwards as swellings and irregularities resolve. #post-op #result.

6-9 months is the avg time to see results from smart lipo.  If you are concerned that you did not get any results, ask for some of your preoperative photos and compare it to your current state.  Sometimes patients forget what they looked like prior to the procedure and a preoperative reference is always good source of critical evaluation.  Speak with your surgeon who performed your surgery!

Some smart lipo surgeons will remove fat from the belly of women who needed a tummy tuck or who needed lipo + diet. With a photo, it would be easy to tell. If that's the case, then the reason you don't see a difference is because you had the wrong operation or you still need to diet.

Hi! It can take several months to see final results from SmartLipo, 6-9 months. If you have concerns about your results I would talk to your surgeon. Often times it is helpful to the patient if they view their pre and post op photos.

Thanks for sharing your question with this community.  Most typically the results of smart lipo should be noticeable by now.  In fact, many patients see an immediate difference despite the typical swelling that occurs post op.  By 6 months the swelling should have subsided and the final result should be apparent.
