Question

I did a pixel 1 month ago at day 7. I noticed pink spots on my face but two days later they turned into dark. I am latina. I am thinking to do a second treatment, but I found another treatment called ipl rejuvenation do you think this can be something that might work for me ? Also I noticed I get sunburn now more often than before even with sunscreen plz I need your help thank you !!

As a general rule, it would be wise to exercise caution when considering light-based therapies in persons of skin of color. The more pigment in the background, the more the theoretical chance of producing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which sometimes can persist for prolonged periods of time, and even worse for giving rise to permanent loss of pigmentation. IPL is another light therapy and the potential risk of this should also be taken into account. Superficial peels, such as high concentration glycolic and salicylic acid peels, Jessner's solution or low concentrations of TCA all have a proven track record for being safe and effective for use in skin of color and should be discussed with your treating physician. It would be wise to seek treatment by a board certified aesthetic physician. Best of luck to you.

I treat so many patients with your skin type and darker. I would definitely not recommend either of these lasers, especially not IPL with your skin type.  A combination of Retinols, hydroquinones, and Vitamin C serum with mild chemical peels will be the best combination for you.  Please consult an expert in pigmentation and your skin type for the best cosmetic results.  Best, Dr. Green
