Depression after breast augmentation surgery? Is it normal to have mood swings after the surgery?

Yes, significant “emotional” swings are quite commonly encountered after all types of elective surgery (you are definitely not alone). In my experience, patients who have a history of depression may be more prone to such emotional “ups and downs”. I would suggest that you do your best to occupy your mind with activities that you enjoy. For example, for our patients experiencing these types of post operative “sadness”, I suggest they walk outdoors (fresh air), see movies, read books they enjoy, seek family/friends' support… Let your plastic surgeon know how you are feeling, especially if you do not see/feel improvements.  Also, do not add additional medications to your regimen without discussing options with your plastic surgeon first. Best wishes.

It is unusual to have severe pain 10 days after an augment but the demands of your profession may contribute to this.  Mood changes are not uncommon after cosmetic surgery and anesthesia. This should resolve with time. Best wishes.
