vianeyperez Thank you for your question. An elective procedure like a hair transplant should be avoided during Pregnancy. While it is unlikely that the stress of the procedure or medications given would be harmful to mother and baby, it is still associated with some risk to both. Also Pregnancy hormones can affect hair growth , I would allow time both after Pregnancy and breast feeding to make a determination on a hair transplant.
Avoid the hair transplant as the cause of the hair loss may be related to the pregnancy itselfI agree with one of the other contributors that the stress of the procedure is likely not worth the risk during pregnancy. It is not just like going to the dentist.
DEFINITELY NOT. Hair transplantation is an elective procedure that, although simple, involves the use of certain medications that may affect the baby. There is no need to even think about having a procedure like this while you are pregnant. Once you deliver the baby and have stopped breastfeeding (assuming you are planning on breastfeeding) then schedule a consultation to see what is the best treatment for your hair loss. Good luck with your pregnancy!
Whilst having a hair transplant surgery procedure is likely to be safe for both mother and baby why take any risks for an elective procedure?More relevant is the fact that a woman's hair volume often improves during pregnancy but then deteriorates after childbirth or breast feeding. Having a hair transplant procedure during these periods of change might confuse the appreciation of the results so it would be wise to wait until at least 6 months after the pregnancy or after breast feeding finishes.
I don't suggest you a hair transplant during your pregnancy for several reasons:I really don't know you hair loss cause but could be related to the pregnancy. So you may have full hair regrowth 8-12 months after the delivery. Hair transplantation is ELECTIVE surgery that in your case can be delayed without any problem several months after the delivery. If it is necessary with good patient selection, I usually perform hair transplant surgery until 10-12 or more months after the delivery. Enjoy your pregnancy. Good luck.
I would not recommend hair transplant surgery during pregnancy. First the hair volume and growth cycle of the hair changes during pregnancy and secondly/most importantly the fetus could be at risk. The main issue relates to the application of Lidocaine and Epinephrine during the procedure to get you numb which could have negative consequences on your baby. I would wait about six months after delivery, when the hair cycle returns to normal and after any breast feeding.
A hair transplant when pregnant should not be a problem as it is just like going to a densist. Get qualified by your doctor first, of ocurse
A great first step would be an online consultation. Often you can submit photos to top hair restoration surgeons for a complimentary evaluation. This should help lead you in the right direction. Having multiple consultations with different doctors cannot hurt.
I would also recommend massaging coconut or olive oil over the crusts before bedtime and shampooing in the morning. Do not pick them off or the grafts will come out in clumps!
2 months after surgery is still too early to assess growth following hair transplantation. You should wait 12 months to assess true results as it takes some time for some of the embedded follicles to start growing hair which may account for the patchy growth you are noticing now.
