My hairline is looking pluggy due to multiple hair grafts in the front, can this be fixed? Is this a bad result? (Photos)

Hello,Hair density is only one factor in planning.  The range of grafts per square cm is from 20 grafts to 70 grafts per square cm.  Normal hair density varies and ranges from 45 to 120 follicular units per sq cm.  The artistic planning of hair restoration is in how to achieve less with more!!  Surgical planning includes where to put more density of hair grafts, graft angulation, caliber of hair, and pattern of hair.  One issue of overly packing grafts is the graft survival rate may decrease due to so many grafts competing for limited blood supply.  The quality of the hair graft and supporting it with regenerative factors has been another key change in hair over the last several years.

A great first step would be an online consultation. Often you can submit photos to top hair restoration surgeons for a complimentary evaluation. This should help lead you in the right direction. Having multiple consultations with different doctors cannot hurt.

1. Hairline design.  2. Proper angulation of recipient sites. 3. Appropriate number of hairs per graft depending on site of placement 4. Appropriate placement of grafts to prevent pitting or cobble-stoning. Unfortunately, there are a growing number of bad hair restoration surgical results.

You should have only single hairs in the first 4 mm of your frontal hairline or the hair transplant shows as a hair transplant. Your surgeon may not have put only single hairs there. A transition zone of single hairs is critical to make for a no-hairline hairline. This is what you should now do, see a surgeon that knows how to do this and have it placed in-front of your existing hairline and you will look better than normal.
