Can Fraxel CAUSE melasma to occur?If I didn't have spots on my cheek before Fraxel but now is there a chance it's PIH?(photo)

Active sun lover,do hot yoga, etc. No hx of melasma in family & had non-sensitive skin b4. Had acne scars & a pigment spot (1 round on R cheek)show up after aggressive peel and going to hot yoga too soon. Got Fraxel dual 1 mo later. Hid from light for 3 mos,then outside with 50+zinc & hat most of time after.At 4 mos post, suddenly both cheeks and nose have spots of hyper&hypo pigment. Whats the chance this is PIH from fraxel? Can these tx's CAUSE melasma to come out? Skin is hyper-sensitive now

I suggest speaking to your dermatologist for the appropriate skin care at this time.  You have a burn that needs to be treated so you do not get long term hyperpigmentation or scarring. Crusting and ozzing isn't normal, so this should be evaluated as well to ensure no infection or allergic...

Fraxel is a laser procedure which can have consequences such as scarring, infection, irregular pigmentation etc. If you go to a well trained laser and skin care expert, the chance of this happening is much less.  Best, Dr. Emer.
