Can I Apply Whitestrips While Wearing Fixed Retainers?

Question

I'm going to remove braces next week and get fixed retainers. I wonder if i can apply whitestrip while i have those retainers. Will the whitestrips do anything to the retainers? Or is it ok to get teeth whitening done at the office after i get my retainers?

Fixed retainers are normally on the back of the teeth, so they don't show.  The strips will still make contact with the front of the teeth, but may have a hard time staying put since they are not custom made so your results will be unpredictable.

	The best result would be to get custom trays, and the best of the best is to do the KöR Whitening method.

There aren't any whitening methods that would be contra-indicated for someone wearing fixed retainers. The great thing about fixed retainers is that you can't lose them. The negative is that they can be harder to clean. Because of that make sure that you get a good cleaning before doing whitening. The tarter buildup can keep whitening material from reaching as much of your teeth resulting in yellow sides and white fronts of the teeth. Enjoy you new whiter and straighter smile!

You can use white strips with fixed retainers.  You could have your teeth bleaching done by the dental office as well.  Enjoy your new smile!
