Can cavitation be an alternative to buccal fat removal?

Can I have ultrasound cavitation treatments on my buccal area (as an alternative to buccal fat removal surgery)? Also, do facial/oral piercings pose a risk when doing this treatment on my face, or can I wear them during the treatment? Thank you.

Cavitation is a ultrasound technique used to melt fat in the torso, arms and legs in very fat (obese people). It works by causing destruction of the fat with ultrasound waves.  It is  indicated on obese patients because they have tons of fat and any irregularities secondary to cavitation are unlikely seen
Cavitation very unlikely can target solely the buccal fat. Since the treatment can't be precise, "melting" of other areas of the face could happen, resulting in superficial facial asymmetries.

Ultrasound is not as precise as buccal fat removal and may harm existing tissues.  An experienced surgeon can remove buccal fat in the office in minutes, usually quite comfortably.  Buccal fat removal will be more precise and reliable.  Facial piercings should be removed prior to the procedure as well as a cautionary measure.
