Do my incisions look normal? (Photo)

Question

Hello, I just had breast augmentation on March 8th and the incision was around the nipple. I'm concerned because the incision seems to go somewhat past the nipple on each breast. The left side seems to have huge stitches. I'm worried about walking around with scarred breast. I'm not a surgeon and I know I haven't healed completely but the incision looks a little sloppy to me. Can someone tell me if this was done correctly and does it look like it may leave severe scarring?I'm an aesthetician by the way and from the looks of it, I may be able to fade the discoloration out. However, the way it's cut looks as though it could leave a pretty nasty scar. It seems as if the incision should have been thinner and shorter and more of a half moon around the nipple. I viewed the surgeons previous clients and none of them had any scarring. Maybe I am just worried. Can someone give me some advice from a professional standpoint? Other than that I like everything else. I'm just worried about visible scarring. I don't want to walk around with butchered [RS bleep]!

It is difficult to see the full extent of the incisions under the steri strips. Best bet is to follow up with your surgeon so that they can examine you and be sure you are healing as expected. You can also discuss your concerns about scarring at this time as well.

Thank you for your question and photograph.  Twelve days post surgery is much too soon to determine your final result and remember, the steri-tapes are covering your incision and most likely there is a bit of dried blood under the tape as well.  Scars can take up to a year to fully mature.  Best of luck.

It is hard to see your incisions in the photos you shared . the steri strips cover them up. I would express your concerns with your surgeon.

Hello,Thank you for your question and photos. It is difficult to tell if you have some bleeding, marker or even irritation from the tapes causing discoloration under the strips. It  isn't possible to assess incisions with the steri strips over them. I recommend that you talk with your Plastic Surgeon about your concerns as they know your situation the best.Take care

Hard to tell since your incisions are covered with steri strips. Just remember that it takes a good year for scars to mature. Initially, they always look red and raised. With time, they lessen in appearance and you may want to look at scar gels/creams for additional scar therapy. Good luck!

Hello, it appears that your incisions are covered with tapes so the appearance of the incisions is not clear to me.  Usually breast incisions heal very well but your surgeon can follow this along with you for the next 12-18 months or longer.  This is how long it takes for scars to fade.

What you are seeing is most likely bruising and perhaps some old blood under the steri-strips that are in place.It seems very unlikely that your plastic surgeon would have left a scar actually on your breast skin rather than on your areolar skin. Definitely discuss with your plastic surgeon, as he/she may also be okay with you taking the steri-strips off at this point. BUT, don't remove them until you speak with your plastic surgeon. Also, he/she can likely reassure you about your scar placement. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your question and photos.  It is difficult to comment since the steristrip tapes are covering the incisions.  Once these are removed the scars can be massaged and silicone gels used to help improve the scarring.
