I want to have a rhinoplasty and breast augmentation performed But I don't want to do rhino and have to wait long to do the BA. For how long one's body is supposed to rest between cosmetic surgeries? I'd like to find 2 surgeons that could operate on me either simultaneously or one immediately after the other. Is that possible?
Answer: Waiting time between a rhinoplasty and breast augmentation? Both procedures can be performed under one anesthesia. Combining cosmetic plastic surgery procedures is not uncommon. Whether you are a reasonable candidate for those procedures depends on your anatomy, your medical history, realistic expectations of the outcome and an understanding of the pros and cons of the various procedures. Safety should always be the main concern. It is generally recommended that the length of elective surgery be less than six hours. The procedures should be performed in an ambulatory facility that is accredited by one of the national organizations like the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF) or in a licensed hospital. Many surgeons would recommend an overnight stay at an appropriate facility where you can be appropriately monitored. Most patients prefer undergoing one anesthesia and one recovery period which is usually more cost effective.Keep in mind that following the advice of any surgeon on this or any other web site who proposes to tell you what to do without: examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, and taking a full medical history, as well as discussing the pros and cons of each operative option would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery who is ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with, and discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. That way, you can have a better idea what is safe and makes the most sense for you. Robert Singer, MD FACSLa Jolla, California

Answer: Rhino and breast augmentation Thanks for your question! There is no reason to do the procedures separately. If you were using a surgeon that only did one procedure or the other, it is relatively easy to schedule a combination surgery with two surgeons. There are many plastic surgeons, like myself, who would be comfortable doing both surgeries at the same time. Best of luck!

Answer: Breast Augmentation and Rhinoplasty As a general principle it is possible and safe for a patient to have these 2 procedures performed at the same time. There are of course many caveats that have to be addressed about the patient, the surgeons, the anesthesiiologist and the facilty. We perform these procedures commonly in our facility.I would suggest that you seek at consultation by credible professionals to explore your options. I trust you will be suuceessful.Fred Fedok, MD FACS

Answer: Waiting Period Both procedures can be done at the same time. You can also choose to do them at separate times. If you choose to do them separately, I recommend doing the second one once you have finished the healing process for the first one. Hope this helps. Raja Mohan MD

Answer: Two surgeons, one anesthetic My practice is comprised of a full body plastic surgeon and a facial plastic surgeon (me). We both focus our skills on different areas of the body. As such, we can operate on patients at the same time. This is a tremendous advantage to patients -- one anesthetic (safer), one OR and anesthesia fee (saves money), one recovery period (saves time away from work), and two surgeons (less risk of surgeon fatigue and more specialized care). You should also feel comfortable with both surgeons -- this is often determined by your first meeting in person. I wish you well!Parker A. Velargo, MD
