Is it normal to perform Buccal fat pad removal without stitching up the wound?

I personally dont suture the incision, I use an electrosurgical pencil to close it and also this way you can control small bleeders. The oral mucosa heals very quickly, leaving the incision opened also enables to drain small amounts of fluids (from anesthesia infiltration). I have done almost 500 procedures like this with success and no complications. Hope this helps. 

Buccal fat removal requires making an incision in the oral mucosa to extract the buccal fat pads. Most surgeons do stitch the oral incisions with disolvable stitches. Other surgeons let the incisions open. Both practices are considered normal.
Buccal mucosa heals quite fast. Therefore any open oral mucosa would close in a couple of days. In my practice I like to close the oral mucosa incisions with stitches. I do so because I like to leave things as I found them. I also believe it could prevent food residues to get stuck in the opening and also decrease the risk of infection.
