What are the risks of subcision? (Photo)

Question

I have scars on forehead and temple area. What are the risks of subcision ? Can the result be worse after subcision e.g. more scarring, pigmentation, lumps, ...? Anything permanent ? Anything that cannot be corrected ?

Subcision may not be your first option as the forehead scars are quite diffuse. Instead, I would opt for a combination of deeper chemical peels and Ematrix sublative fractional RF to help even out the skin contour. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles

Subscision has risks such as infection or bleeding, but I would not think you can get a great result using that technique for the problem you show.  I suppose if small areas are done at a time you can see how the results come along, but I wouldn't count on a lot based on the photos.Have you attempted any other techniques?  Lasers and or derma planing?  I think that might be a better pathway.Good Luck!

This type of scarring requires a combination approach with fillers such as bellafill and lasers to resurface.  I suggest only seeing a cosmetic dermatologist with experiene as this is a more difficult case that requires a meticulous injector and laser expert.  Best, DR. Emer.
