I was recently told by Dr Kimberly Lee that a lower eyelid skin pinch would benefit me because I have excess thin crepey skin. Is this procedure common and does it leave a bad scare?

Answer: Lower eyelid skin laxity Thank you for your question. Excising a small amount of lower eyelid skin (pinch blepharoplasty) is commonly performed, and typically the scar hides well just under the lash line. I like to perform this in conjunction with skin resurfacing, which serves to treat fine lines and tighten the skin further, as well as stimulate collagen production.

Answer: Skin pinch At times a small skin pinch can help with excess skin and wrinkles in the lower eyelid area. Of course, it is important not to remove too much skin as this can cause lower eyelid retraction. I tell all my patients that the skin in this area cannot be tight as a drum as the eyelids are a dynamic region of the face and the muscles are active in this area. If this is a skin quality issue, I often will pair this pinch with a chemical peel or CO2 laser. Take care and be well.
