Car ride home after full TT w/ lipo, including hips and thighs?

I have a midsize SUV and a Volvo sedan. Which would be better for the ride home from MD,FACS surge center? SUV requires a step up,but easier to descend. Volvo requires more effort getting out, but easier ride. Also,any tips for the drive home? Less than 5 miles and I will not be staying overnight.

Although many fine physicians send their patients home after tummy tucks, all of our tummy tuck patients go to an overnight Aftercare facility where registered nurses are present.The reasons for this are multiple.  Pain control, monitoring of vital signs, monitoring of blood oxygen levels, assistance with the drain, assistance with ambulation, medications for patients who develop nausea, etc etc etc.What is the physician to do if the patient has pain issues not controlled by oral medications?  Or the patient cannot urinate?  Or if the blood oxygen dips?  Or the patient becomes nauseated despite anti nausea medications?  Or develop blood pressure that is either dangerously high or low?  Perhaps have a complication like blood clot or pulmonary embolism?If you are at home, you may have to take a trip to the ER or tough it out or worse.That's why we don't send patients home after a tummy tuck.

Whatever vehicle would be easier to get in and out of would be the better one for this type of transportation.

While some physicians choose to send their patients home after abdominoplasty, I believe they should spend the night in an accredited nursing facility.  This is a matter of safety.  Hope this helps.Dr. Ali Mosharrafa

If one of the cars has a better recline of the seat, as to about half way back, I would use that.  Otherwise the easier in and out of the two.All the best.
