Question

I have a bmi of 35.3 or around that. I am 5'2" and 195 pounds. I have major joint issues been on pain meds for 3 years. I want off the weight loss yo yo. I have been as low as 125 but then 6 month to a year later I am back up to an unhealthy weight. I was told not to lose weight so my bmi drops below 35. I am not worried about not being able to lose weight, but curious how much this can help me lose. Ideally I would like to be 120-125.

It normally, will depend of how much your weight is at the moment of the surgery. The first month you can lose between 15 to 30 pounds, the second month 10 to 15 pounds, and than the third month up to 10 pounds..

Patients usually lose about 70% of their excess weight after a sleeve gastrectomy. Most of the weight lose usually occurs within one year after surgery.  It is very important to remember that surgery is a tool and not a cure for obesity and you need to work with it with eating right and exercise to achieve the best results.

Generally speaking, sleeve patients lose 70 to 80% of their excess weight.  The average weight loss with the sleeve is 100 to 150 pounds the first year.  Much larger individuals tend to lose more.  Results varies among individuals.  Weight loss depends on level of activity and a healthy life style.  The first month, most patients lose 20 to 30 pounds.  Following the first month, weight loss is 8 to the 10 pounds.  I hope this helps.
