I lost my clear retainer but I have a permanent one, so does it matter?

I will do my best to answer your question with the information provided.I highly recommend getting some sleep after you read this! ;)  Concerning your lost retainer, I do recommend making an appointment with your orthodontist to fabricate a new one.  Fixed retainers are fantastic, but the removable retainer is your insurance plan.  Sometimes one of the bondings come loose on the permanent retainer, and you are unaware of it.  The removable retainer would prevent it from moving.  Without the removable retainer, the tooth could move.I hope that this helps and good luck!Best,Dr. Jenn
