I am getting my braces off soon and I have black triangles,will this delay the coming off process?

I have braces since 2011 and I'm getting them off in a few weeks time and I'm really looking forward to it but I noticed black triangles. I don't really mind them as I think my teeth look good anyway. Would this slow down my braces coming off or would my orthodontist still take them off? Would the gum grow back over them once the braces are off? I don't really think they look ugly but I just want them off. Thanks

Dear Braceboy1999,Thank you for posting your question on Real Self.  I will do my best to answer your question with the information given.Regarding the black triangles, it is your decision whether or not you are happy with their appearance.  If you are unsure, I recommend addressing your concern with your doctor before he/she removes them.  The braces need to be on the teeth to correct them.  The process requires reshaping your teeth and approximately 1-4 months of treatment time.I hope that this helps and good luck!Best,Dr. Jenn

It is not unusual to develop black triangles after braces, especially with adult patients.  Sometimes it resolves all by itself, but often we can choose between dermal fillers, crowns/veneers, or Bioclear.
