Is it safw to say if your goal is to get a top lip that’s bigger than your naturally filler lower lip You need to use a thinner filler in the lower kf you only want to smooth lip lines without adding volume to tk e lower ans then use a high g prime thick fillerfor dramatic volume and lift in the top lip since you want to become top lip heavy since you have a naturally bigger lower lip and want the opposite to be achieved with filler? Would juvederm volbella or vollure be best in the lower lip so it smooths lip wrinkles amd doesnt add much volume or forward droop or projection? And hen obviously use voluma or volux in upper lip for dramatic volume and longevity for fast metabolism. I want to use whichever last a year between volbella and vollure for he lower thag can address fixthe wrinklesand not make my lower lip bigger because ahain the ial is o necome top lip heavy with use of filler

Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs. Fillers are an alternative but another alternative may be an eccentric lip lift. This does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners. This takes about 1 hour to perform under local anesthesia and costs $4,000. I would need photographs to give you an accurate answer.

In general, it is possible to create the appearance of a fuller upper lip than the lower lip, even when the lower lip is naturally dominant—but it’s not achieved simply by using the thickest filler on top and the thinnest on the bottom. Lip aesthetics are more nuanced than that.

A few important clarifications:

1. Filler choice alone does not determine size—placement and technique matter more.
Even a “thin” filler can add noticeable volume if injected deeply or in larger amounts. Conversely, a more robust filler can be used conservatively to enhance shape and lift without looking heavy if placed correctly.

2. Treating the lower lip for lines only is reasonable—but must be done carefully.
If the goal for the lower lip is wrinkle smoothing without added bulk, softer fillers like Juvederm Volbella or Vollure can be appropriate when used superficially and sparingly. Between the two:

Vollure tends to last a bit longer (closer to ~12 months)

Volbella is softer and more flexible but typically doesn’t last quite as long

That said, any filler placed in the lower lip carries some risk of subtle volume increase, even when volume isn’t the goal.

3. Using very high G′ fillers (like Voluma or Volux) in the lips is generally not ideal.
While these fillers are excellent for cheeks and jawline, they are too firm for the lips and can increase the risk of stiffness, unnatural movement, or vascular complications. Longevity alone should not outweigh safety and natural motion when it comes to lips.

For dramatic upper lip enhancement, we usually rely more on:

Strategic shaping (vermillion border support, cupid’s bow definition)

Vertical height rather than forward projection

Controlled product choice designed specifically for lips

4. Becoming “top-lip heavy” is about proportions, not overpowering the lip.
The most natural and attractive results come from rebalancing, not reversing anatomy. Over-weighting the upper lip can quickly look artificial if the lower lip is overly restricted or the upper lip is overfilled.

Bottom line:

Yes—your concept of using a softer filler to refine the lower lip while enhancing the upper lip more assertively is sound. However, the injector’s technique, depth, and restraint are far more important than simply choosing thinner vs thicker fillers, and extremely firm fillers are generally not appropriate for lips despite their longevity.

A well-executed plan focuses on:

Soft refinement of the lower lip

Shape, lift, and proportion in the upper lip

Preserving natural movement and expression
