Will Allocate treat my capsular contractor?

Thanks for your questions and photos. Many years ago, some plastic surgeons described cases where capsular contracture was largely resolved when these patients were prescribed Accolate or Singulair. The association between these leukotriene inhibitors and improvement of capsular contracture was interesting. Our collective literature has looked into this association and many of us feel that implementation of these drugs may be an appropriate first line treatment of capsular contracture. The data is not conclusive but really can not be ignored. Neither Accolate nor Singulair have been FDA approved for the indication of capsular contracture. So the use of these drugs, in this situation, is off-label.
I have seen patients who were improved after several months of treatment (often with Vitamin E). I have also seen patients who did not improve adequately and would improve with surgical intervention.
My advice to you is to continue to see your plastic surgeon and discuss your options. Express your expectations and see what they suggest.

capsular contracture affects people approximately one in 20. No one knows exactly what causes it and what can prevent it completely. It's important for your doctor to use a minimal incision and a Keller funnel as a sleeve to protect the implant from touching anything before goes into the breast pocket. Singulair has been shown to prevent it.
