    Often it is just trauma that irritates a mole.  Continued trauma, even unintentional washing the face, can perpetuate the irritation.  So consistently covering the site for a few days is a great idea.  Unfortunately when a mole or lesion is changing it may have been a spontaneously bleed or have been easier to bleed when traumatized.  For that reason I would have you see a dermatologist.  They can assess the mole and also can remove it.  I routinely recommend having moles in the beard area removed as they commonly get nicked.  The procedure is simply shaving off the mole flush with the skin.  It will most likely be easier than what you just sliced without anesthesia!!
