I'm extremely anal and type A, and I can see every little detail and asymmetry. Dr. Comstock is the best I've been to for fillers, and she really listens. I feel like she just has a great eye and great judgment, and I completely trust her with my face. I never write reviews, but I feel compelled to with her because she really is that goodz
Dr. C and everyone @ Skin Spectrum are wonderful. Dr C. spends a lot of time with her patients to discuss the best options and always delivers 110%. I have been a patient for over twenty years and recommend her to all my friends and family.
Had first treatment about 6 weeks ago (dermatologist performed the treatment), second treatment last week (different dermatologist performed) with a newer technique where there was less injections and deeper injections. Very tolerable, seeing thicker hair already (6-7 weeks out). Can't wait for my 3rd treatment. PRP only was used for this treatment. Microneedling was done with topical PRP with my first treatment but not my second. Updated on 15 Oct 2016:
Dr. Comstock has been my "go to" dermatologist for the past 20 years. My youthful appearance I owe primarily to her, due to her cutting edge but conservative approach to fillers, lasers, facelifts, etc. However, she revealed her incredible expertise to me a hundred fold after I fell on the left side of my face and sustained something akin to blunt force trauma. My internist, an ENT and a plastic surgeon all evaluated the CT scan of my face: no fractures, edema, and a large hematoma. Days after the fall the left side of my face started to fall and my left lip would not move or smile though the right side of my face was functioning perfectly. Even the plastic surgeon looked at the facial drooping and said it would take months before I knew whether the asymmetry would resolve. Very black and blue and furious and scared, especially after spending $$$$ on my face over the years, I called Dr. Comstock's office. She saw me that afternoon, immediately began massaging the very large hematoma ("please do NOT do this yourself she admonished!") and told me that the hematoma had formed something like a dental block to the left side of my face; hence, the drooping. "This will all resolve and you will gain back the movement in your face." I practically cried. Meanwhile, being the vain person that I am (!) I focused on the aesethetics as the right side of my lip and mouth were, indeed, much "perkier" than the left. She injected a "mini voluma" in the fulcrum of the right side, which rendered that area a bit more relaxed and similar to the left. I used tons of arnica, some heat treatments (the Genesis laser), massaged the area and waited. Four months later I look pretty much the same. I still marvel at her incredible confidence and genesis as a physician. How did she know so early on that the hematoma would resolve, the dental block so to speak would dissipate and that normal movement would eventually return to my face. I've known Dr. C a long time, including the days when she did straight medical dermatology. Her passion is aesthetics but her straight derm knowledge is still very much there. As a long standing patient I was fortunate to take advantage of her gifts and I know it very much contributed to the healing process. Thank you!
I just had my inner thighs done this morning. Inner thighs are a little more work to get the right position because of the size of the tip and the awkward body position with it being between the legs. It was not painful at all. I don't know if I would even go so far as to call it uncomfortable. It was definitely cold and lots of suction but it was not bad at all. I read magazines and listened to my ipod. The worst part was my leg that wasn't being treated at the time falling asleep and the pain in the hips and knees from being on one position for so long. But even that was fine. The techs were great as they always are at my Drs. office. They made sure I was comfortable, checked on me often and were very careful and detailed when making sure they got the device positioned correctly. Immediately after the procedure, my thighs were very cold and the skin a little tender. It was sort of like how your checks might feel after being out on a freezing, blustery wind. One thigh is still a little raw but I put semi-tight jeans on right after the procedure and have been fine. I also have a little bit of pinpoint bruising that I am expecting will go away soon. I bruise very easily so I will not be suprised if the bruising becomes a bit more pronounced before going away. I also feel like my thighs are a few inches bigger right now just because they still feel a little suctioned. No numbness. No pain. I am so excited to see the results in a month or two. Oh, my stats...I am at my happy weight and am pretty solid. Just about every bit of my body fat is on my inner thighs. I thought my outer thighs were a bit fatty too and was planning on doing that area also but the doctor said I did not have enough fat there for the machine to work. I will post measurements and try to post before and after pictures in a few weeks. Updated on 1 Feb 2011: It has been just over 2 weeks since my procedure. A few days after my procedure my inner thighs remained a bit numb. The surface skin was not numb, but the tissue underneath was. A few days after, my left thigh got a little itchy and I had little sharp twinges every once in a while. Nothing big or painful, just enough to make the area come to mind. This lasted about a week. I now feel absolutely no effects from the procedure. I have already seen results. I measured my thighs just before my procedure. I have lost a full 1/2 inch in my left thigh but only a negligible amount in my right thigh. I measured many, many times because I could not believe I lost inches so quickly. I am pretty skeptical in general but have no doubt my thighs are already smaller. I have had 2 friends comment (without me telling them I was seeing results). Full results are expected 6-8 weeks after the procedure so I am hoping to see more reduction, especially in the right side. I do feel a little lopsided right now because my right thigh has always been larger than my left and now it looks even larger because I have not experienced the reduction in it yet like I have I the left. I am really excited to see the final results.
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome can be genetic and/or lifestyle induced or exacerbated. It can be frustrating especially with hair growth, acne, infertility issues and body habitus changes. With the hair growth, particularly dark hair, the definitive treatment is hair laser. It appears you have some baseline pigment in your skin, you should make sure the laser you decide on is optimal for you skin type. You will love the permanency of the results versus the sugar hair removal every 8 days. You can gently shave those area in-between treatments or continue with the sugar treatments until the hair is gone. Once the hair is gone you many need to deal with some of the existing discoloration from the hair growth and treatment, but at least you should be preventing new hair follicle discoloration occurring. I would recommend seeing a dermatologist or endocrinologist for a hormone evaluation. We have our patients go on a strict paleo diet as blood sugars and blood insulin levels tend to be high with PCOS. Dietary changes always help with PCOS and for many of our patients that have lifestyle induced PCOS it may actually reverse and "cure" the condition. An easy way to start with diet is to eliminate gluten and dairy from your diet. Best wishes is treating this.
You need to call your doctor as soon as possible. You may be having an unusual reaction to the filler or an infection. This is not a normal reaction. If your physician does not know how to treat this type of reaction, seek another opinion or call the manufacture of the filler that was used. They can refer you to a center with expertise for assistance.
Yes, it is possible to just laser chin area and put fillers in marionette lines. BUT...........it may not be the best option for your rejuvenation and ultimate results. You really need an assessment and plan. Often the marionette lines are emphasized when there is loss of volume in the lateral face. We lose our fat pads when we age. If you just fill in the marionette zone, you may look like a "bulldog" vs filling the lateral face in and lifting the marionette lines. If you have a lot of wrinkling in the chin, you may also consider neuromodulators, such as Botox or Dysport in the chin also. Finally, you must have ALL of your skin in the same condition or it will look unbalanced. This means if you laser around the mouth and have pigment and discoloration adjacent to that tissue something will look "off". We like to approach our patients with global skin care improvement first and then focus on wrinkles and folds. What you do mention that is a good idea is possibly assessing different areas of the face with various technology and not just using one technology for everything. For example, you may do micro needling, a lighter laser or peel on the entire face but deeper laser around the mouth. Good luck as around the mouth wrinkles make people feel badly about their appearance.
All of us have a nasolabial fold which will become more noticeable with time. Sometimes it is aging, genetics, muscle movement, lifestyle and/or photo damage which can accelerate the depth of this line. To best assess this we look at younger pictures of you and follow the progression of your nasolabial fold. We also inquire about your family genetics to predict what your "look" is most likely to be. Folds on your face that you dislike are best treated will fillers. Interestingly fillers are often not just put in the fold, but are placed in other areas that may lift the fold. Therefore, a total facial assessment is critical for the complete plan. Also, I note you have some pigmentation above the lip which is common in your skin type. Blending out your color with appropriate products will also help with the shading that occurs with extra pigmentation. The darker skin next to lighter skin will emphasize or create a visual fold.
I would recommend getting a facial assessment and consult. I believe everyone can improve theirappearance and look refreshed with an excellent topical skin care program and filler in strategic places.Often patients know what "look" they would like and can reach this goal with an artistic and mathematical plan for filler placement. Our muscles, bone, fat and skin interact so that often placement of filler in one area creates a beautiful balance and harmony in another area for an overall soft, natural, rested look. It is also important if you have a chronic medical condition this is taken into consideration for the most optimal plan for you. Good luck!
