What should I be eating and drinking after Rhinoplasty. Straw, hot, cold, soft, hard or crunchy?

1st, thanks to all DR.'s taking time out of their busy lives to help those of us who function better with more information, than less, that some of us need, to help our anxiety. Now, curious, what will I be eating and drinking after procedure, an almost 3 hr rhynoplasty.??

I recommend a soft diet to my patients for three days after surgery. However, the restrictions really depend on the extent of surgery, your recovery from surgery, and surgeons' preferences. Only the surgeon involved in your care can tell you how much was done and how it may effect your diet after surgery.

The first few hours after the rhinoplasty procedure, you still can have a somewhat of a hangover from the anesthetic. so is probably best to just drink clear fluids in case you have any nausea or vomiting. Later in the evening you can progress to more solid foods and by the next day there is no dietary restrictions.

It is best to eat and drink soft foods and liquids for the forst few days after your surgery.  Do not eat or drink anything very hot or cold.  Do not eat any hard or tough food- no nuts, apples, steak, etc.
